OBJECTIVES
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the following:
- music notation
- melody and rhythm
- MIDI - note, duration, velocity
- Project due by end of class Tuesday, September 10
- Follow student tutorial Steps 1 through 8
- Use the Sample Tracks as the "Additional Materials Download"
- Use the Sample Tracks as the "Additional Materials Download"
- For Step 9 transcribe "Take On Me" (below) into the piano roll
- Open a new project
- In the New Project Settings:
- Set Virtual Instrument Tracks to 1 and Audio Tracks to 0
- Set Tempo to 160, Key to C and Time Signature to 4/4
- Double click on the track time line to open Piano Roll
- Select the Pencil and the 1/8th note just above the piano roll
- All notes and rests are 1/8th
- See keyboard diagram on the Resources page (if needed, ask Mr. Shearer for hard copy)
- Change the instrument to a synth sound (or combination of sounds) you like
- Extra Credit - add chordal accompaniment
- Copy project files to flash drive in folder named MIDISurvey_LastnameF
- Turn in project on flash drive by
- LEVEL 2s (Level 1 Extra Credit, after completing the assignment above)
- Transcribe music of your choice with at least 4 parts and minimum of 12 measures
- Music must be approved by Mr. Shearer BEFORE you start transcribing
- A minimum of 2 voices (virtual sounds) e.g. Cello and Piano
- Copy project files to flash drive in folder named MIDISurvey_LastnameF
- Turn in project on flash drive by
